First Alert Forecast: Increased showers expected next week

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Lingering moisture will remain over windward and mauka regions of the state Friday evening. We will continue to track changes in the forecast over the next several days.
An approaching front from the northwest will weaken the trade winds this weekend. However, this front will dissipate before reaching the island chain.
A second front will reach the state by the middle of next week, increasing showers and rainfall. A low-pressure system could also move closer to the state by the end of next week. This low could also lead to increased rainfall. Expect an increased chance for rainfall throughout next week.
Due to the fronts, a northwest swell will approach over the weekend. Surf will be near advisory levels on exposed north and west facing shores. Surf on east-facing shores continues to drop.
