Frequently Asked Questions
Is ozone/activated oxygen really safe?
Activated oxygen occurs in nature and it is produced and used commercially in applications for sanitizing produce, waste and drinking water. ZZZCleaner is designed to keep the activated oxygen enclosed with your CPAP equipment in the airtight bag, and, when the sanitizing process is complete, the ozone turns back into regular oxygen when it comes in contact with air.
Can I use the ZZZCleaner to sanitize anything other than my CPAP equipment?
Only the CPAP mask with the head gear, tubing, and water chamber should be placed into the airtight bag with the ZZZCleaner.
Will health insurance cover the ZZZ Cleaner?
At this time the ZZZ Cleaner is not covered under health insurance.
Can an HSA or FSA account be used?
Yes, you can use your HSA or FSA account.
Will the ZZZ Cleaner work with my CPAP machine?
ZZZ Cleaner does not recommend cleaning the CPAP itself by ozone. Â As long as the Humidification Chamber, Tubing and Mask are cleaned regularly, the CPAP should not require cleaning. Â One CPAP Manufacturer will not cover ozone related warranty issues to your CPAP if it detects regular ozone cleaning of the CPAP itself.
Will the ZZZ Cleaner work with my CPAP mask?
The ZZZ Cleaner will clean any mask that will fit inside the airtight bag.
Are there supplies that have to be changed with the ZZZ Cleaner?
Yes, every six months of normal use, the carbon filter needs to be changed. Â The airtight bag should be replaced if it is no longer airtight. Â These items can be ordered from the manufacturer (see package insert)
Is there a warranty on my ZZZ Cleaner?
Yes, there is a two-year warranty on your Cleaner. Â Please keep your proof of purchase showing the purchase date and contact us for a no cost replacement ZZZ Cleaner.
How often should I use the ZZZ Cleaner?
We recommend that The ZZZ Cleaner be used every day (or at least weekly) on your mask, tubing and water chamber (which should be empty and dry) this will cut down on the risk of sinus infections by the CPAP user. Â Â We recommend sanitizing daily to reduce the risk of harmful bacteria growing in your CPAP items, this can lead to respiratory illness. Bacteria can multiply exponentially within just one day. The ZZZ Cleaner will disinfect any bacteria or virus the activated oxygen comes in contact with. Â It will not remove skin oils from the mask or cushion. Â You may wish to use a soft cloth to remove this manually before using the ZZZ Cleaner. Â Some CPAP Manufacturers recommend not cleaning their CPAP's with an ozone cleaner, as it may void their warranty.
Why is there a "clean" smell to my mask after using the ZZZ Cleaner?
The "clean" scent is sometimes described as similar to the air after a heavy rain or thunderstorm. This is because both are caused by ozone.  Ozone occurs naturally after lightning storms, and is also how the ZZZ Cleaner sanitizes your equipment.  If you wish to get rid of the smell, let the equipment sit out of the airtight bag for awhile, and/or you may turn on your CPAP for a couple of minutes to flush the scent from your tubing and mask.
