I must admit, I wasn’t the first one stumped by trying to make a round curve out of a straight line.
A group of MIT grad students were faced with the same problem.
Their Instructor, the famous Dr. No gave the most difficult exams in the history of the renowned University.
He gave each student a box of Number 2 pencils and instructed the class to make
5 round curves out of a box of straight lines on an overnight, take-home Final Exam.
Only one student passed the exam.
His name is lost to history, but his work lives on.

The answer went back thousands of years when the Great Pyramids of Egypt were built. The importance of the Curve is no more telling than to watch a professional Baseball player pitch a no-hitter.
Remember when you were a kid, the Satellite dish in your back yard was bigger than a Volkswagen?
You can thank NASA engineers for that.
It seems that they had a problem much like that lowly MIT student.
To broadcast from Coast to Coast, you had to have Towers the height of the Empire State Building.
Just local radio Stations built huge towers to broadcast to your city.
So how does one build a Transmitter Tower on a space ship a mile high?
Easy.
Instead of broadcasting with 50,000 Watts of Power heading at you, you design a receiver that can capture a 5 Watt transmitter and then direct it to a point to be interpreted.
Enter the Parabola curve.
It doesn’t matter which point the radio signal is struck, it is bounced back to a point on the Parabola Curve called “the focal point”.
The dishes became smaller and you barely notice them on the edge of almost every home in America thanks to Direct TV and the Dish network.
Yet, they are receiving your TV signals from Outer Space from a Satellite orbiting the Earth; All because of a mathematical formula and some dude thinking outside of the box.
So enter my problem.
How do you take a light beam that travels as straight as an arrow and bend it around curves, crooks and crannies to get at a place germs hide in the shadows.
Once again, someone needed to take it outside of the Box.
It seems the biggest seller of Cpap Mask cleaning machines in the World is a square box.
They use ozone to get at germs and saturate a chamber full of deadly gas.
The problem is the gas is just as dangerous to humans as it is to germs.
Ozone has been designated by the Center for Disease Control and the Food and Drug Administration just as harmful to humans and animals as Chlorine Gas.
In parts greater than 5ppm, it can damage your lungs, your heart and pretty much shut you down from breathing.
If you have lung problems in the first place, you can take it to the bank it is going to exasperate them even more.
Being of Sound Mind and a Researcher for years, I decided to find a solution other than Ozone to kill all bacteria, germs and pathogens in my Cpap mask.
Took years but I solved it.
The answer was found in the 1903 Nobel Prize for Medicine.
It went to a Doctor by the name of Niels Finsen.
He discovered by using UV light in a specific wave length of 254.7nm, it would kill and destroy the Tuberculosis Virus. You don’t hear much about TB today as his little UV light pretty much destroyed the outbreak of TB.
What lay dormant for years was the discovery that UV light could wipe out and destroy most Germs, Virus and Pathogens that exist.
It was ideal for Sterilization of a Cpap mask.
Just what the Doctor ordered.
Then a problem cropped up. It seems the UV light would not penetrate shadows.
It was line of sight and if the germs were not in a direct path of the UV light, they would live on to fight and harm others on another day.
Thus a need was created for a Parabola Curve.
A Germ can run, it can hide but it cannot escape the wrath and destruction of a UV light with a mission.
The problem was solved.
Create a chamber that would reflect light around a parabola curve to seek out and destroy germs hiding in the shadows.
If you have one of those boxes that generate Ozone, you have more of a problem than you realize.
Not only is the Ozone a deadly gas and it does escape from charcoal filters, but the square box does nothing to prevent germs from hiding to fight another day.
I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t want to go to sleep with a gas chamber next to my bed.
